Step 1: Wheel Removal

  1. Loosen lug nuts slightly while wheel is on ground
  2. Jack up the vehicle and secure with jack stands
  3. Remove lug nuts and wheel

Step 2: Caliper Removal

  1. Locate caliper bolts (usually 2 bolts on the back)
  2. Remove bolts and carefully slide caliper off rotor
  3. Support caliper with bungee cord

Step 3: Piston Compression

  1. Use C-clamp to compress caliper piston
  2. This makes room for new, thicker pads

Step 4: New Pad Installation

  1. Apply thin layer of brake grease to pad backing plates
  2. Install new pads in correct orientation
  3. Reinstall caliper and torque to spec

Bedding-In Your New Pads

Proper bedding is critical for performance and longevity:

  1. Perform 8-10 stops from 60 mph to 10 mph with firm pressure
  2. Allow brakes to cool between stops
  3. Let brakes cool completely before normal driving
